Indianapolis-based medical software developer acquired by California company

Gener8 LLC, based in Sunnyvale, Calif., has acquired RND Group, a 25-year-old software development company headquartered in Indianapolis, the companies announced this week.

Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.

RND Group, which has nearly 80 employees, including some 40 software developers, specializes in FDA-regulated software for medical devices. It is based at 5975 Castle Creek Parkway N. Drive.

Gener8, founded in 2002, is a turnkey design and manufacturing service provider specializing in high complexity products, primarily for medical devices and diagnostic applications. Gener8 is owned by Sverica Capital Management LP

“RND is a world-class medical software development operation with a blue-chip customer base and a unique set of capabilities,” Gener8 CEO Jerry Jurkiewicz said in written remarks. “We’ve already partnered on several programs, and the suit’s value proposition has resonated strongly with customers.”

With the acquisition, Gener8 adds software development capabilities such as cloud solutions, verification and validation, and quality system compliance, among others. Gener8 says the company has a library of protocols that speed up the development process by taking advantage of pre-built core functionality.

“We are thrilled to join Jerry and the rest of the Gener8 team. From our first interactions, it was clear that there would be a great fit between our businesses and, more importantly, that bringing our capabilities together under one roof would be a real benefit to customers,” said Tim DeFrench, Founder and President of RND.

Gener8 says the acquisition allows it to extend its “non-instrument” services to related software.
