What you will do (tasks and responsibilities)
You will design, build and maintain reliable, efficient and reusable code for our customer-facing web APIs, allowing our customers and partners to interact with our new spatial systems and sensing technologies. Using your knowledge of Java and backend technologies, you’ll help deliver flexible, high-performance, and scalable APIs that serve and delight our customers.
With your strong hands-on experience in software development, you will help build efficient, easy-to-use, and scalable user applications that enable our customers to access our space platforms and systems. Additionally, you will be involved in the development of new services and systems to introduce our cutting-edge capabilities to new potential customers and partners.
This role is a great opportunity to participate in the development of a large-scale technology stack spanning both ground and space.
What we are looking for (skills and experience)
We are looking for ambitious, high caliber individuals with the following characteristics:
Essential:
- Proven experience in developing quality software using Java/J2EE 8 or higher.
- Experience in developing a range of RESTful services, APIs and micro-services using modern Java frameworks such as Jersey, Spring Boot etc.
- Experience with testing frameworks (JUnit, Mockito, Cucumber or similar).
- Knowledge of databases (Oracle, PostgreSQL, etc.) and ORM frameworks.
- Experience working in an Agile delivery environment using CI/CD pipelines.
- Experience using Microsoft and Linux operating systems.
- Proficient in the use of software documentation and release management systems; Confluence, Jira, Git, etc.
- Good problem solving/troubleshooting skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork/collaboration skills.
Desirable:
- Understanding of front-end technologies, libraries and frameworks such as JavaScript, CSS, HTML5, React JS, Material-UI and Node.js.
- Knowledge of server technologies (Apache, Jetty, WildFly, Nginx etc.).
- Knowledge of other languages (Go, Python, Ruby, Bash Scripting, etc.).
- Understanding of NoSQL databases.
- A keen interest in the space sector.
