Purpose of the position
Support a best-in-class approach to application development
By developing applications, APIs and database components in the BPP architecture, you will ensure that all work is performed to the highest standards in accordance with industry best practices. Help drive continuous change and the Never Stand Still attitude of IT and the broader business.
what you gonna do
• Estimation, development, unit testing and documentation of all application, front-end, back-end, API, database and system components in accordance with the architecture strategy
• Act as SME for identified internal applications and components and share knowledge as appropriate
• Ensure that all coding and development is done in accordance with SDLC BPP, coding standards and guidelines
• Contribute to the development team and team on all activities during the sprint, including the development of user and defect stories and peer code reviews/comments
• Work closely with testers and other developers to meet expected acceptance criteria
• Provide ongoing support to business critical applications, components and processes
• Identify the root cause of production problems and defects, recommend resolution paths and correct where necessary.
• Work with the architecture team to ensure designs are accurate and understood

Application criteria
What we are looking for
- Qualified at BSc/BA level with a highly technical, programming or computer science degree
- Significant experience in a similar development role
Demonstrable skills in the following areas:
Development Skills
- Java 8
- Commercial back-end Java development
- REST API / API Gateway
- AWS Lambda
- Source control management (Git)
Development methodologies
- Experience in Agile, Scrum/Kanban
- Complete appreciation of the end-to-end SDLC
- TDD
- Business oriented with the ability to quickly understand a problem or situation and develop an approach to moving solutions forward
- Able to consider broader strategic objectives in the face of operational pressure
- Demonstrable ability to apply relevant industry and process standards to all tasks undertaken
- Dedicated to ensuring own technical skills and specializations are kept up to date in line with industry developments
- Able to develop effective partnership relationships with key stakeholders
- Effective at anticipating and understanding customer expectations and ensuring customer requirements are met and expectations are managed appropriately.
