Purpose of the role
You will be responsible for supporting the manufacturing and production teams by resolving challenges encountered in manufacturing and servicing our product lines (primarily related to our in-house test equipment), such as sensors, alternators, systems electronic control, powertrain inverters and interface. units designed for the motorsport market. You will work as part of a multi-disciplinary team and build close working relationships with other engineering functions, product management and production teams.
main responsibilities
Process improvement logs generated by the production team regarding design or documentation changes.
Be responsible for the correction of nonconformities related to test procedures, equipment and documentation.
Respond to requests for new or replacement production tooling/jigs/platforms, improve quality.
Assist the Production and Quality teams in 8D investigations.
Support, investigate, repair and maintain production test equipment, including our automated systems.
Use a data-driven approach to improve McLaren Applied production test environments and collaborate with product managers and production managers to set priorities.
Prepare specifications, test reports and improve production test instructions.
Confidently analyze and overcome software problems with actionable and innovative solutions.
Operate within a multidisciplinary team, mainly focused on the motorsport industry.
Support business planning, budget estimates and play an active role in technical discussions with clients as required.
Plan, manage and count your time. Anticipate any issues that may affect delivery progress and deal with them proactively, escalating the level of support if necessary.
Communicate clearly to key stakeholders at all levels of our business, customer organizations and supplier partners.
Share and articulate complex technical solutions with peers and non-engineering colleagues, so others can easily understand, build, and scale your ideas collaboratively.
Write technical requirements, specifications, processes and other documents to high standards.

Knowledge, skills, qualifications and experience
Degree in engineering, computer science or a relevant discipline or equivalent experience.
Experience in developing a range of software solutions for end of production line testing, particularly with regards to I/O querying and proof of function.
Proven experience building Microsoft Windows hosted software applications.
Competent programmer using the following languages Python, C#, Java and HTML5.
Experience in C#, Java and Kotlin is desirable.
A good understanding of standard communication protocols (e.g. CAN, SPI, I2C, Ethernet, Flexray).
Technical assessment of all stages of a product’s design life cycle, from initial project scope with external customers to prototyping of designs ready for manufacturing.
An understanding of electronic principles and components is desirable, including any motorsport knowledge.
Proficient in collecting and interpreting complex physical test data to quickly inform engineering decisions and design directions.
