A restaurant software developer that counts Gail’s, Nando’s and LEON among its customers has secured $30 million in funding led by one of the world’s leading early-stage investors.
Sky News understands that Vita Mojo, which was founded six years ago, will announce this week that it has raised the new capital in a funding round led by Battery Ventures.
The company enables digital ordering in restaurants and more efficient kitchen and delivery operations through its software.
He argues that he can play an important role in tackling the labor shortage crisis in the hospitality industry by reducing the number of employees in restaurants.
The new funds will be used to expand into new markets and refine its product base, according to Vita Mojo, which was originally launched as a chain of healthy restaurants before becoming a software provider.
“The headwinds and opportunities facing restaurants today are enormous,” said Nick Popovici, co-founder and CEO of Vita Mojo.
“Operators are adapting to changing customer dining and ordering preferences as well as monumental market disruptions – first the pandemic, then supply chain disruptions and a labor shortage -work.
“It has dramatically changed how restaurants operate and reduced profit margins for those who are unable to adapt.”
Vita Mojo’s products allow customers to personalize their in-restaurant and in-app orders based on calorie counts, while also being able to extract allergen information from the restaurants’ own software.
The company also works with Neat Burger and Le Pain Quotidien.
Its previous fundraising, in 2018, was supported by Investec.
It was unclear Wednesday at what valuation the funds were raised.
Battery Ventures is a leading global investor, having invested in over 400 companies, including GetYourGuide and Glassdoor.
Battery General Partner Morad Elhafed and Company Director Zak Ewen join Vita Mojo’s Board of Directors.
“Offering a platform that combines digital ordering with kitchen operations is a valuable proposition that solves the headaches of managing multi-point solutions and systems,” Elhafed said.
“Our experience with restaurant technology in the United States makes us excited about the opportunity for Vita Mojo in Europe – and its overall mission to take restaurants to the next level by simplifying their operations and delivering a remarkable experience for customers. “
